What does it mean to be saved? And what are we saved from?

When many Christians say I’m saved they automatically think this means I’m going to heaven. This is true once you repent by believing in Jesus' death, burial, and bodily resurrection you will be saved by God and you will be granted everlasting life in heaven. But what it really means to be saved is this: "Your saved from God’s wrath that was righteously upon you for your sins. This means God has forgiven you of all your sins through Christ and God has graciously saved you when you believed in his Son Jesus. Thus you now have peace with God (Romans 5:1) and are forgiven of all your sins because God’s anger and full wrath for sin was satisfied on the cross when he punished Christ to save you (Romans 3:19-31) (Isaiah 53). This means you will be the few spared and instead of his wrath falling upon you, he assures you and grants you mercy, forgiveness, loving kindness, and safety when he returns and when you meet him on judgment day. And all because you believed in his Son Jesus to save you. Jesus assures you that anyone who believes in him will not be condemned but they have already passed from death into life".

Jesus said in Scripture (John 5:24)

"I assure you, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life”.

Ephesians 2: 1-10

Made Alive with Christ 1”Once you were dead, doomed forever because of your many sins. 2You used to live just like the rest of the world, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3All of us used to live that way, following the passions and desires of our evil nature. We were born with an evil nature, and we were under God's anger just like everyone else. 4But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so very much, 5that even while we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's special favor that you have been saved!) 6For he raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with him in the heavenly realms--all because we are one with Christ Jesus. 7And so God can always point to us as examples of the incredible wealth of his favor and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us through Christ Jesus. 8God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago”.

Titus 3:5-7 (NLT)

5He saved us, not because of the good things we did, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins and gave us a new life through the Holy Spirit. 6He generously poured out the Spirit upon us because of what Jesus Christ our Savior did. 7He declared us not guilty because of his great kindness. And now we know that we will inherit eternal life.
